Indiana transfer forward Malik Reneau has committed to transfer to Miami, according to On3’s Joe Tipton. The 6-foot-8 Reneau has one more season of college eligibility remaining, and he’ll use it to be apart of new Hurricanes head coach Jai Lucas‘ inaugural roster in Coral Gables.

Reneau chose Miami over interest from Arkansas, Auburn, Michigan and USC, and becomes one of the first big pieces Lucas has recruited out of the portal since being hired on March 4th to replace longtime coach Jim Larrañaga, who retired Dec. 26.

Reneau is a four-star transfer and ranked the No. 16 overall player. He is also the fourth-ranked power forward in the current On3 Transfer Portal Rankings after initially entering the portal on March 19.

As a prep prospect, Reneau chose the Hoosiers over Miami, Florida State, Memphis and more than 20 other offers. He checked in as the No. 25 prospect nationally in that class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

A part-time starter this past season, Reneau averaged 13.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists to go with a 55.2-percent field goal percentage, which ranked Top 50 in the nation, while starting 19 of his 26 games in 2024-25.. However, he did experience a drop off in production compared to his sophomore season with the Hoosiers.

During the 2023-24 season, Reneau logged career-highs across the board with 15.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. He started all 33 games he appeared in for the Hoosiers as a sophomore.

As of Wednesday, March 26, over 1,250 Men’s College Basketball players have entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. That number is expected to grow as the 2024-25 college basketball season nears its end.
