Miami defensive back Jadais Richard made a big play in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s game against Duke. Unfortunately, he was also injured on the play.

Richard suffered what appeared to be a right leg injury after picking off Duke quarterback Maalik Murphy. He stayed down for several minutes before being helped to the sideline while unable to put any weight on his leg.

Jadais Richard was later taken off the sideline on a cart, signaling that the injury is likely serious.

The junior has started the past five games for the Hurricanes. Richard had five tackles, an interception and a pass breakup against the Blue Devils.

On the season, he has 27 tackles, 2 pass breakups, a forced fumble and an interception.

Jadais Richard started his college career at Vanderbilt, playing in 11 games and making one start as a true freshman. He then transferred to Miami ahead of the 2023 season.

Last year for the Hurricanes Richard played in 11 games and made one start. He had 14 tackles on the season.

Xavier Restrepo sets Miami all-time record for receiving yards

On a positive note for the Hurricanes, Miami star receiver Xavier Restrepo added to his record-breaking career on Saturday, catching a 66-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s win over Duke to move him into first place all-time in receiving yards for the Hurricanes.

Xavier Restrepo passed Reggie Wayne and Santa Moss to take over the top spot. Moss previously held the record with 2,547 yards.

Restrepo had a monster game against Duke, catching eight passes for 146 yards and three touchdowns. He now has 2,573 yards for his career.

The fifth-year senior is one of six Miami players in school history with at least 2,000 receiving yards. Being at the top of the Hurricanes record is obviously impressive considering the wideouts Miami has produced.

Xavier Restrepo also holds the Miami record for 100-yard receiving games with 11. He is in second place all-time in receptions with 179 — three behind Mike Harley.
