It was a huge night for Jim Larranaga and the Miami Hurricanes, as his team captured a shared of the ACC regular season title.

By virtue of an exciting 78-76 victory over the Pittsburgh Panthers, the Hurricanes were able to celebrate. Wooga Poplar led the way for Miami, scoring 18 points off the bench and leading his team to the win.

Afterwards, Larranaga broke down what it takes to win an ACC regular season title, explaining everything that goes into it.

“What I told our players and I believe this is true, the regular season is a marathon,” started Larranaga. “You play 20 conference games. 10 at home, 10 on the road. You’re traveling and everything. To be a conference champion, a regular season champion, you’ve got to grind it out everyday in practice, and every game. Then you have to play either your best, or certainly one of your better games, like the 42 to 20 rebound battle. … That’s significance. You have a team effort where you identify an area that needs a lot of attention, and the players respond by doing a great job in that area.”

Next up for Jim Larranaga and the Hurricanes in the ACC Tournament, followed by the NCAA Tournament. Miami is far from done, as the veteran coach will have his team ready for success moving forward.
