Miami shooting guard Jordan Miller has been one of the most underrated players in the country for quite some time now. Now that he’s been playing so well in the ACC and NCAA Tournaments, he’ll likely start getting more of the national media attention he deserves. On Sunday evening, Miller drained several critical free throws down the stretch to help lift the Hurricanes to their first Final Four berth in program history.

The 6-foot-7 shooting guard was also perfect from the field, putting on a masterful performance in his team’s Elite Eight matchup vs. Texas on Sunday evening. He poured in 27 points in a spectacular performance, draining seven of his seven field goals and drilling 13 of his 13 free throws. He became the first player to score 27 points while shooting 100% from the field and connecting on 100% of his free throws in an NCAA Tournament game since Christian Laettner did it for Duke in their 1992 Elite Eight game against the Kentucky Wildcats.

Miller transferred to Miami from George Mason–the same place that Hurricanes’ head coach Jim Larranaga led to a Final Four back in 2006.

The Hurricanes were able to battle back from a 13-point second half deficit on Sunday evening to prevail against Texas, thanks to critical plays from Miller, Isaiah Wong, and Norchad Omier down the stretch.

This year, Miller has done a little bit of everything for the ‘Canes and he picked the biggest game of the year to deliver his best performance. He even chipped in three rebounds and two assists in the Hurricanes’ impressive comeback victory over the Longhorns. Miller has averaged 15.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game this season.

In the ‘Canes Round of 32 win over the Indiana Hoosiers, he stuffed the stat sheet with 19 points, five rebounds, and two blocks. Miller also chipped in 13 points, six rebounds, four assists, and one block in the Hurricanes’ manhandling of the top-seeded Houston Cougars in the Sweet 16. Miami managed to put up 89 points on a stifling Houston defense that hadn’t allowed more than 80 points all season long. The Cougars came into their matchup with Miami only allowing 56.4 points per game-ranking them second in the nation.

Miller also put together an impressive showing at the ACC Tournament this year, where he poured in 17 points or more in all three of Miami’s games in Greensboro. For his efforts, he landed on the All-ACC Tournament second team. Miller helped propel the ‘Canes to the ACC Tournament semifinals for the fifth time in school history, where eventually lost to the Duke Blue Devils.

It’ll be exciting to see how the ‘Canes perform in the Final Four. They’ve boasted an extremely deep, athletic, and talented roster all season long. They’ll go up against the Uconn Huskies on Saturday, April 1st in Houston, Texas.
