Miami linebacker Kaleb Spencer plans to enter the transfer portal, On3’s Pete Nakos reported. He initially committed to Oklahoma before flipping to the Hurricanes during his recruitment.

Spencer appeared in six games as a freshman at Miami, mostly on special teams. He also added one tackle on defense in the November loss to Florida State.

Spencer played high school football at Life Christian Academy (Va.), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 596 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Miami has made multiple high-profile additions in the portal this year, notably bringing in former Washington State quarterback Cam Ward – the No. 8 overall player in the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings. All told, the Hurricanes have brought in nine transfers and currently rank No. 20 in the On3 Team Transfer Portal Index.

Oregon State transfer RB Damien Martinez to visit Miami

Mario Cristobal and the staff don’t seem to be slowing down, though. They’re still hitting the recruiting trail in the spring portal window and are one of the teams in the running for former Oregon State running back Damien Martinez. On3’s Pete Nakos offered more details on his recruitment in his Transfer Portal Intel earlier this week.

Martinez is preparing to visit Miami April 25-27, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He also is planning to visit Arizona April 17-18, Mississippi State April 19-20 and Kentucky April 23-24. He initially planned to visit Tennessee, but those plans changed.

A two-time first team All-Pac-12 selection and 2022 conference freshman of the year, Martinez is the No. 14 overall player in the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings. As of Friday evening, he was the top available player in the portal.

“Some decisions are harder than others and this is easily the hardest one I’ve made in my entire life,” Martinez wrote when he announced his plans to transfer. “I want to thank every coach, fan and Beaver Nation as a whole for your love and support. I can truly say I have given my all to Oregon State and appreciate everything OSU has given me.”
