Miami is expected to hire Kevin Steele as its defensive coordinator, sources tell On3.

Steele, a former defensive coordinator at places such as Auburn, LSU, Clemson and Alabama, had been set to take the defensive coordinator job at Maryland prior to the Miami

Steele, a Broyles Award finalist in 2017 and semifinalist in 2019, led Auburn to top 30 finishes in total defense in three of his five seasons as the Tigers’ defensive coordinator. That includes Auburn ranking 14th nationally in total

In addition to his work as a coordinator and assistant coach, Steele, 63, was the head coach at Baylor from 1999-2002 and was an interim head coach at both Auburn (2020) and Tennessee (2021).
