Latest injury update on Miami starting safety Bubba Bolden

Miami Hurricanes head coach Manny Diaz has provided an unfortunate injury update on starting safety Bubba Bolden. Bolden, who has been dealing with a shoulder injury, will miss the remainder of the season. Diaz announced that Bolden will be undergoing surgery on his injured shoulder.
“He will have an operation and will be out for the season,” Diaz said via 247Sports’ Christopher Stock. “It’s a big loss for us.”
Bolden is currently Miami’s leading tackler this season with 42. He also has one sack and two passes defended. Bolden reportedly suffered his injury almost a month ago on Miami’s Thursday night game against Virginia in Week 5.
Bolden tweeted a message following the news.
“Love me or hate me.. I gave my all to this program and can’t no one tell me different,” he said. “Wasn’t the way I wanted this to end but it is what it is. God got me! Luv.”
Bolden is the latest Miami player to suffer a major injury
Bolden joins a number of Miami players that have been ruled out for the remainder of the season in recent weeks. Quarterback D’Eriq King, running backs Cam’Ron Harris and Don Chaney Jr., and offensive linemen Jalen Rivers and Corey Gaynor have all been ruled out for the year already.

Last season, Bolden also led Miami in tackles with 74. In his collegiate career, he has totaled 130 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, and five passes defended. He has also forced five fumbles.
Bolden is eligible to return next season due to players being granted one extra season of eligibility after COVID-19 impacted last year. But Bolden’s tweet suggests that he might be moving on after the season.
Miami is 3-4 on the season and 1-2 against ACC opponents. The Hurricanes are coming off of a 31-30 victory over NC State in Week 8. Moving forward, Miami faces off against Pittsburgh in Week 9. Then, the Hurricanes face Georgia Tech, Florida State, Georgia Tech, and Duke to wrap up the season.
