LOOK: Miami unveils 'Honoring Black Excellence' uniforms for Virginia Tech showdown
Miami is wearing their ‘Honor Black Excellence’ uniforms for Saturday’s showdown against Virginia Tech. In a game the Hurricanes want to win, Miami will be rocking some beautiful threads.
“In today’s game, Miami will be debuting their ‘Honoring Black Excellence’ uniforms to celebrate and honor the achievements of Black individuals and Black culture as a whole,” tweeted FOX College Hoops.
As you can see, the vibrant colors are mixed into the trademark Miami orange and green color-scheme. The uniforms are made by Adidas, who stated their intended message for the sweet uniforms.
“The colors for Honoring Black Excellence were chosen for their impact and historical symbolism — Purple to celebrate the regal past of Black kings and queens, and Orange to represent the sacrifice and strength in spirit that never dies,” revealed Adidas.
Additionally, Adidas provided an in-depth explanation of their Honoring Black Excellence program.
“There is no picture of sport, culture, or adidas without the Black community,” wrote Adidas. “Honoring Black Excellence is an adidas initiative celebrating the achievements of Black individuals, and Black culture as a whole. Throughout the year, we’ll highlight six honorees from different sports, offering a platform to give back and share their stories.”
As you can see, Miami’s uniforms have a tremendous meaning behind them. Against Virginia Tech, they’ll look to find victory in their special threads.
