Miami football coach Mario Cristobal isn’t too concerned with press conferences or speaking with media after the game. He’s not one to wow crowds with wild quotes or get too cozy with the media. He’s just fine being a football coach and letting the media make what they will about him from a distance.

“No, I don’t you know. I live a very sheltered life, man,” Cristobal shared when a reporter asked him whether the noise surrounding this football had effected him. For the ‘Canes coach, it’s pretty much just football and family these days.

“I mean it’s like to the office then back home like 24/7. So in terms of talking noise outside of that, outside stuff has never affected anything. And truly, I know some people say things to say ‘thank you, I’m cool’ in a press conference. I don’t. That’s the last thing in the world on my mind — I’m talking about the very last thing on my mind these days.”

However, while Cristobal doesn’t make a big deal out of the press conferences, he understands why he has to do them and has no problem showing up. As he says, it’s all a part of the football process so he’s fine with it.

“So now, in terms of me getting stuff out of the way, no brother, this is the best, you know. This is the best. I’m sure a lot of our guys would like to have kept playing,” he added, referencing how much the team likes playing together and spending time around each other.

The, Mario Cristobal confirmed some of the talk that yes, transitioning to a new head coach can be a challenge for the players that stick around. But he thinks the whole team is moving in the right track together.

“I would say when there’s change, change is difficult. And especially a blueprint like this at the bands of world w and they’ve done a really good job of taking it on and they wanted to see the results as much as anything else. But we need to stay process-oriented.

“A couple times along the way you saw we got out of whack, right. We had a substitution go wrong here right. We had a busted coverage on their touchdown. They broke contain when we had the quarterback and he got out. But back to process: Got us a little bit better and more towards what we wanted to do.”

So, room for improvement, says Crsitobal. And he seems confident Miami can achieve it.
