Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal recently praised Jacolby George, saying that he has changed and is playing the way Miami needs its everyone to.

Following the spring game, Cristobal was asked about George’s play, including a touchdown pass that he snagged.

“We need that,” Mario Cristobal said. “That’s what Miami football needs to look like more consistently. He’s had a good spring and he continues to improve. There’s a change in him as a person, as a guy that’s just hungry to help his teammates, his team, get better. We push him hard. We really do.”

Jacolby George was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2021. Last season, he played in seven games, snagging 13 catches for 130 yards.

“His mom is a wonderful person, a wonderful lady, and she plays a big role in this as well. I think any time you can partner up with families and parents to get guys on the right track to progress, it’s really helpful. It’s critical and I think you’re starting to see that out of Jacolby George.”

With Shannon Dawson taking over as Miami’s offensive coordinator, the Hurricanes are on their third offensive coordinator in as many seasons. According to Jacolby George, it’s the most explosive it’s been now.

“I feel like this one is more explosive,” Jacolby George said. “More opportunities for the wide receivers to go up and get the ball, more deep balls, more just letting us be us.”

Tyler Van Dyke on the wide receivers

Following the spring game, quarterback Tyler Van Dyke was asked about his relationship with Xavier Restrepo. He used it as an opportunity to praise Restrepo and the rest of Miami’s wide receivers.

“Yeah, we always throw together whether it’s in a practice setting or out of practice setting,” Tyler Van Dyke said.

“So, it’s good to have that chemistry with him, have that safety blanket. But all the guys balled out tonight, all the receivers. I thought they did a great job catching the ball. They’re getting separation. So, it was good.”
