Mario Cristobal explains what Texas A&M game could do for Miami Hurricanes' recruiting
One thing has become abundantly clear if you’re the head coach at a major Power 5 program over the last few years. You better either win big early or recruit like gangbusters if you hope to survive more than a couple years. This week, Mario Cristobal will have a chance to do a little of both for the Miami Hurricanes‘ football recruiting.
His squad heads to No. 24 Texas A&M. A win could lead to significant momentum on the recruiting trail.
“Certainly recruiting is affected by a number of different things, but progress and performance, increased success rates are typically one of the more critical factors in the recruiting cycle,” Cristobal said on Monday.
As things stand, Cristobal has already done a pretty phenomenal job with his first full class.
The Miami Hurricanes’ football recruiting in 2023 has produced commitments from the likes of five-star offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa, as well as five other On3 Consensus Top 100 recruits, including highly regarded quarterback prospect Jaden Rashada. The class currently ranks No. 10 in the nation.
But there’s always room to fill out the class with even more talent.
Texas A&M win could take Miami Hurricanes recruiting to next level
Though Texas A&M tripped up last week to Appalachian State and the meeting with Miami has lost a little bit of luster as a result, the eyes of the nation will still be on College Station.

Even if the Aggies are a long shot as a playoff contender at this point the Hurricanes are not.
Clemson doesn’t look untouchable at all, and Miami has looked like one of the best teams in the ACC through the first two weeks of the season. Continuing to establish itself as a national player will only aid the recruiting efforts of Cristobal and his staff.
Hard to beat a primetime national spotlight on ESPN. The game between the ‘Canes and Aggies will kick at 9 p.m. ET on the Worldwide Leader.
“Sure, I think everybody wants to watch teams that are playing on big stages and see what type of progress teams have made,” Cristobal said. “I think any time you get an opportunity to play a great team like this on a national stage, of course there are lot of eyeballs on you.”
