4-star RB Mark Fletcher commits to Miami, his dream school
The buzz has been around Florida for Mark Fletcher, a one-time Ohio State commit. After backing off his pledge to the Buckeyes earlier this fall, this quickly became a battle between two in-state schools: Florida and Miami.
The No. 253 prospect in the On3 Consensus took an official visit to Florida last weekend. He was at Miami this weekend after playing for a state championship.
The 6-foot-1, 225-pound four-star running back out of Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage didn’t leave Miami before giving Mario Cristobal, Kevin Smith and the Hurricanes the news.
“My official visit was big, but really, all it did was finalize my decision,” Fletcher told On3. “I went into my visit to Florida neutral between them and Miami, but I kind of made my decision after that visit.

… Miami has always been my dream school. From 8th grade, they have been recruiting me and it is a blessing that they see me as a player that can help put them back on top.”
Year One was not what Cristobal wanted. He and his staff are working hard to change that. Getting their players in will be a big part of that change. Fletcher is excited about the future and the staff he will be playing for.
“I admire the hunger the coaches have to put Miami back on top. The vibe is a brotherhood and it is going to get back to the way it was at Miami. Everybody will see, Coach Cristobal is bringing it back. And it is now home for me. It has always been a dream for me to play for Miami. This decision just feels right. I will be signing with Miami on Wednesday.”
