Four-Star SG Austin Swartz commits to Miami
One of the top shooting guards in the country, Austin Swartz, is officially off the board and has committed to the University of Miami, he announced live on the On3 Recruits YouTube Channel.
The 6-foot-5, 180-pound senior out of Concord (N.C.) Cannon School chose the Hurricanes over offers from Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Indiana, Notre Dame, UConn, Virginia Tech, and others.
Swartz, a four-star recruit, is ranked as the No. 30 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Top-150 Player Rankings.

Swartz talks his decision to choose Miami
“I chose Miami because they fit my play style and they have had guards like me in the past,” he said to On3. “Coach L is the coach I want to play for because he makes guys better.”
In his own words, what type of player is Miami getting in Austin Swartz?
“I would describe my game as a shot creator. I can score at all three levels but not only that, I can pass the rock too.”
He has a message for the fanbase.
“You’re getting a player who will work hard and do everything he can to get dubs.”
Scouting Report
Austin Swartz is a shot-making guard. At 6-5, he has solid length and great positional size. Swartz is more athletic than he may give off, getting high above the rim in transition. Swartz is a good stand-still shooter with good balance. Where he really excels is creating space off the bounce. His ability to get a clean look when guarded in the half-court is a real weapon. Swartz will need to continue adding weight. While he is a score-first guard, he is a capable passer and sees the floor well. He has the upside as a defender, but there has traditionally been an inconsistent effort on that end. He has a good handle and could play some combo guard at the next level. Playing up on the UAA Next 17u Circuit this summer, Swartz averaged 2.8 threes made per game and 14.1 points. His dad, Paul Swartz, played D2 basketball. – On3’s Jamie Shaw
