Miami benches Tyler Van Dyke for Jake Garcia against Middle Tennessee
The Miami Hurricanes were in desperation mode on Saturday afternoon when their starting quarterback, Tyler Van Dyke simply couldn’t get anything going. He had two turnovers in the first half, including a back-breaking pick six. Miami trailed at halftime 24-10 and a big reason for that was due to Van Dyke not being able to get in a groove and connect with his receivers. The Hurricanes coaching staff decided to make a change at quarterback late in the third quarter and bring in backup signal-caller Jake Garcia, the son of former Nebraska quarterback Randy Garcia.
Jake Garcia was rated as the No. 10 quarterback prospect in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus Rankings. He was also ranked as the No. 53 overall player in America. One of the most highly touted prospects in the country, Garcia was selected to the Under Armour All-America Game. He played his high school football at two different high schools. During his high school career, Garcia threw for nearly 6,000 passing yards and over 50 touchdowns in four seasons.

Tennessee QB dealing with concussion ahead of Georgia game
The Blue Raider defensive backs were making critical plays down the stretch with the football in the air. They outplayed the Hurricanes for much of Saturday afternoon, that’s all there was to it. MTSU receivers D.J. England-Chisholm and Jaylin Lane both hauled in over 100 receiving yards.
Miami ended up losing on Saturday, 45-31, but Garcia definitely provided a bit of a spark for the offense for a few minutes when he entered the game.
The Miami-Middle Tennessee game is currently being televised on the ACC Network.
