Miami edge rusher Collins Acheampong plans to enter NCAA transfer portal
Miami edge rusher Collins Acheampong plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported Sunday. Acheampong spent just one season with the Hurricanes as a true freshman in 2023 and will have four years of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-8, 270 pound defensive lineman was originally committed to play for Michigan coming out of high school before flipping to Miami. He did not record any stats for the Hurricanes this past season.
As a recruit, Acheampong was a four-star prospect coming out of Santa Margarita (CA) High School. He ranked as the No. 154 overall player and No. 19 edge rusher in the 2023 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Given that Michigan recruited him out of high school, the Wolverines could be a potential transfer destination for Acheampong. He also had offers from USC, UCLA and LSU among others. Ultimately, we’ll have to wait to see who has interest but those are a few early possibilities.
