Miami enters Top 10 in On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings
Despite being just five days into July, Miami has already left its mark on the recruiting trail this month.
With a commitment from Las Vegas Bishop Gorman four-star interior offensive lineman SJ Alofaituli on Friday, the Hurricanes have now landed three pledges this month and have made an impressive jump in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
Mario Cristobal’s program now checks in with the No. 10 recruiting class in the nation and No. 3 class in the ACC, as of July 5. All three July commitments have come from coveted four-star targets as the Canes’ class now features 17 commits overall.
Alofaituli, the No. 71 overall prospect and No. 4 IOL in the On3 Industry Ranking, committed to Miami over Michigan and Nebraska. He’s the second top-100 prospect to choose the Sunshine State program in as many days.
Hurricanes carrying over momentum from big June
On Thursday, Jacksonville Mandarin four-star safety Hylton Stubbs joined the fold following his decommitment from USC. He is now the highest-ranked commit in the class, checking in at No. 56 overall. Stubbs is also the No. 5 safety in the nation.
“I felt Miami could be the one for me when they visited my school in the spring to see me and Jaime Ffrench,” Stubbs told On3 upon his decision. “They showed strong interest, and my dad and I reviewed the depth chart and saw a chance to play early. Miami’s defensive line and overall front seven look really good; they have some studs up front. Miami made a big push after the spring visit, the during the official visit.”

On July 1, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star linebacker Gavin Nix made the call in favor of the Canes. The latest to continue the IMG to Coral Gables pipeline, Nix is the No. 153 overall recruit and No. 17 LB in the cycle.
“They fit all the things I valued throughout my process,” Nix said. “They’ve been super consistent for me. Their love for me never wavered. Throughout the whole thing Miami was always right there with me and made me and my family feel like a family.”
Not only has July been a success for the Canes already, but June was also a big month for Cristobal and Co. on the trail. Miami added eight commitments last month, doubling its class along the way.
Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna four-star cornerback Chris Ewald is one of four four-stars who committed last month and is one of six top-200 recruits in the class overall. Miami Central four-star safety Amari Wallace, Sanford (Fla.) Seminole four-star interior offensive lineman Max Buchanan and Savannah (Ga.) Benedictine Military four-star EDGE Herbert Scroggins highlight some of the other new additions.
