Miami expected to hire Houston's Shannon Dawson as new offensive coordinator

The Miami Hurricanes are hiring Shannon Dawson as the team’s next offensive coordinator, per On3’s Matt Zenitz.
Coming to Miami from Houston, Dawson will replace Josh Gattis. Gattis was fired by head coach Mario Cristobal after just one season with the Hurricanes.
For his part, Shannon Dawson has been Houston’s offensive coordinator since 2020 and is a longtime Dana Holgorsen disciple, dating back to his time at West Virginia. That, and the recent success that Houston has had in the passing game, should indicate the direction that the Hurricanes’ offense is heading in 2023 and beyond.

Miami needs a bounce-back season in 2023. Coming into Cristobal’s first season, there was tons of excitement around the program and quarterback Tyler Van Dyke. However, the team struggled and now has major questions to answer.
