The Heisman Trophy race is heating up and Miami is pulling out all the stops in its campaign for quarterback Cam Ward. The Hurricanes have have put up a videoboard in Time Square in anticipation of Ward’s appearance as a finalist in New York.

The board features a photo of Ward along with the text “except for one” as Miami hopes Ward will have a chance to be its first Heisman winner since 1992. You can view the videoboard below.

Ward is currently tied with several players for the third-best odds to win the Heisman Trophy according to FanDuel. He’ll be a longshot to win the award over favorite Travis Hunter of Colorado, but has put together an impressive season nonetheless.

A transfer from Washington State, Ward has put together the best season of his career he threw for 4,123 yards and an FBS-leading 36 touchdowns to seven interceptions. That shatters Miami’s single-season passing record as the Hurricanes finished with 10 wins for the first time since 2017.

Miami lost against Syracuse on Saturday, which means it will unfortunately not get an opportunity to compete for an ACC Championship. That will likely cause Ward’s Heisman hopes to take another hit, but he’s still done a lot for the program in what will be his only season as a Hurricane.

Additionally, the Hurricanes’ College Football Playoff hopes are now up in the air, but Ward’s numbers speak for themself even if Miami doesn’t make it. The Heisman Trophy ceremony will take place at 8 p.m. ET on Dec. 14 and will be televised on ESPN.

Ward has not officially been named among the finalists yet, as they are set to be announced on Dec. 9.
