Miami leaps rival in On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings
Miami added another piece to what’s turning out to be a stacked defensive back haul this cycle in Coral Gables. New Iberia (La.) Westgate four-star cornerback Jaboree Antoine announced his commitment to the Hurricanes on Saturday, choosing the ACC program over in-state LSU.
The addition of Antoine, the No. 87 overall prospect and No. 9 corner in the On3 Industry Ranking, provided a big bump for the Canes in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Mario Cristobal and Co. moved up three spots and now have the No. 9 class in the nation, surpassing Oklahoma, Tennessee and Florida State in the process.
“I love the fit for me at Miami,” Antoine told On3’s Chad Simmons. “They run a great scheme for me and I can see myself making an early impact there. I have a chance to play early and play for great people. Miami has my type of people and I just like the fit.”
Eight top-200 recruits are now committed to Miami this cycle. Led by a heap of in-state standouts, the class now features 19 prospects in total.
Canes continue big July on the trail
Each of the four highest-ranked commits in Miami’s class have joined the fold this month. Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star linebacker Gavin Nix kicked things off on July 1 and has since been flanked by Jacksonville Mandarin four-star safety Hytlon Stubbs, Las Vegas Bishop Gorman four-star interior offensive lineman SJ Alofaituli and now Antoine.
Stubbs sits atop the class as the No. 55 overall prospect and No. 4 safety in the nation. The one-time USC commit chose the Canes over Florida not long after coming back on the board.

“They showed strong interest, and my dad and I reviewed the depth chart and saw a chance to play early. Miami’s defensive line and overall front seven look really good; they have some studs up front. Miami made a big push after the spring visit, the during the official visit,” Stubbs told On3.
Alofaituli committed 24 hours after Stubbs and is also a top-100 recruit overall and the No. 5 IOL in the cycle. Nix is the No. 16 LB and No. 21 player in the Sunshine State.
Stubbs and Antoine make up just half of the blue-chip defensive backs in Miami’s class thus far. Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna four-star CB Chris Ewald pledged on June 27, one week after Miami Central four-star safety Amari Wallace did the same.
Tampa Armwood four-star running back Girard Pringle, Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola four-star linebacker Elijah Melendez and Leo (Ind.) four-star tight end Brock Schott are all top-200 recruits. Other top commits include Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton four-star quarterback Luke Nickel, Cincinnati Lakota West four-star TE Luka Gilbert, Sanford Seminole four-star IOL Max Buchanan and Phenix City (Ala.) Central four-star WR Daylyn Upshaw.
