Miami forward Kiree Huie plans to re-enter NCAA Transfer Portal

Miami power forward Kiree Huie plans to re-enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. The news comes from On3’s Pete Nakos.
Huie missed most of the 2024-2025 season due to injury, averaging just 1.3 points, and 1.7 rebounds in 14 games after he came back from injury. Huie averaged 11.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, and shot 54% from the field in the 2023-2024 season while at Idaho State.
The 6-foot-9, 228-pound forward committed to Miami last summer after one season with the Bengals, citing his connection to then-head coach Jim Larrañaga, who announced his retirement on Dec. 26, 2024 in the midst of his 14th season in Coral Gables. Hurricanes assistant Bill Courtney served as interim head coach for the remainder of last season but would not return after Miami hired former Duke assistant Jai Lucas as its next head coach on March 5.
Prior to his season at Idaho State, Huie played in the junior college ranks for the Odessa College Wranglers and appeared in all 34 games, starting in 25 of them during the 2022-23 season. He finished that season averaging 10.6 points on 60.8% shooting from the field, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks in 20.6 minutes per game as the Wranglers went 30-4 overall and 15-1 in conference.
“I’m a great blocker, rebounder, and hard worker,” Huie told CaneSport’s Izubee Charles. “My inside game is really good, and I’m just an all-around dog.”
Huie is the second Miami player this week with plans to enter the transfer portal. He joins guard Austin Swartz.

Miami G Austin Swartz plans to enter NCAA transfer portal
Miami guard Austin Swartz plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. Swartz averaged 5.9 points per game for the Hurricanes this season.
Swartz originally committed to Jim Larranaga before his retirement before the 2024-25 season. He stayed with the program to play for interim head coach Bill Courtney this season, but it does not appear he will play for new head coach Jai Lucas next season.
A former four-star recruit out of North Carolina, Swartz was the No. 51 overall prospect in the 2024 recruiting class, per the On3 Industry Rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 13 shooting guard in his class, and No. 5 player in his home state.
Swartz played in 29 of Miami’s games this past season, but his minutes per game fluctuated throughout the season. During his last two games in a Miami uniform, he averaged 35.5 minutes per game where he scored 14 points in a five-point loss to Georgia Tech, and eight points and three steals in a win against NC State during the regular season finale.
