Miami has 'a world of confidence' in Jake Garcia at QB
Miami came into the 2022 season with one of the best perceived quarterbacks in the ACC in Tyler Van Dyke. Unfortunately, for the Hurricanes, Van Dyke hasn’t lived up to expectations and was actually benched during Miami’s loss to Middle Tennessee State for backup Jake Garcia.
Now, Miami head coach Mario Cristobal says that he has a world of confidence in Jake Garcia at quarterback for the Hurricanes going forward, even though he’s sticking with Tyler Van Dyke as the starter.
“A world of confidence in Jake,” Cristobal said. “We feel we have two great quarterbacks and a third young one that’s developing into a really good one as well.”

“Jake’s shown that he’s a really good player. He showed it in high school. He showed it in opportunities here. So, a ton of confidence in him and a super bright future for him as well.”
Jake Garcia came to Miami as a four-star recruit in the Class of 2021. A Georgia native, he held numerous SEC and ACC offers before ending up in Miami.

Miami’s next several games should be winnable. That includes a bad North Carolina defense that Miami’s offense should be able to get comfortable against. Then, the Hurricanes take on Virginia Tech, Duke, and Virginia.
Rick Stockstill trolled Miami
Following Middle Tennessee State’s win over Miami, the Blue Raiders head coach Rick Stockstill trolled the Hurricanes.
“Two goal line stands we stop them down there. They ran for 194 yard against Texas A&M, the number whatever team in the country, whatever they are. They ran for 68 against us. They averaged 1.6 yards per carry. They gave us 1.5 million, but they got 1.6 yards per carry,” Rick Stockstill said.
