Coaches are out on the recruiting trail in January, and the staff at Miami is no exception. Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal was on the road Monday visiting Tampa Sumner 2025 four-star offensive tackle Ziyare Addison.

Addison is the nation’s No. 238 overall prospect and No. 19 offensive tackle in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 34 recruit in Florida.

On3 also ranks Addison higher than the other major recruiting services. He ranks No. 244 overall and No. 16 among offensive tackles in the 2025 On300.

He had this to say about Miami to On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons earlier this month ahead of a Miami junior day visit:

“They have a really good team and they’re building something as well,” Addison said. “I really like coach (Alex) Mirabal. I really like the way he coaches and the way he teaches coming from Oregon and producing (Penei) Sewell.”

Addison told CaneSport in November that Miami was not far off of Florida State’s lead in his recruitment.

“Miami, they came along a little later in my recruitment. …I like Miami because of what they’re building,” Addison said. “I really like the offensive line coach down there. Coach Alex (Mirabal), I’m really cool with him. I like coach (Alex) Atkins (at Florida State) too. I’d put Florida State a tad bit higher, but Miami is not that far off.”

Ziyare Addison talks Florida State

After a visit from Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell last week, Addison spoke with Warchant about what the ‘Noles staff had to say.

“They loved the way I have developed, and I’m a high priority for FSU this year,” Addison said. “He understands the recruiting process is a marathon, not a race. He encouraged me to enjoy it and make the decision on my own terms, assuring me the door would be open when I’m ready.”

Addison said the people and the play on the field have kept drawing him back to Florida State.

“Coach Norvell has delivered on his promises,” Addison said. “He’s turning the program around, and I could see myself playing at FSU.”
