Arguably one of the best parts about being a college football player is interacting with the legends of the past when they come to visit. And for Miami’s young freshman quarterback Jacurri Brown, he’s already had the opportunity to interact with former Hurricanes legends such as Bernie Kosar and Steve Walsh. On Thursday, after Miami wrapped up practice, Brown revealed the words of wisdom let’s go the former legends laid upon him.

“This spring with Bernie Kosar and Steve Walsh popped in any of those guys approach you what they say At the alumni weekend I talked to Bernie, and we had a good conversation,” Brown said. “He was just like patient; just like all those old guys they always come up and they are like OK F the transfer portal, you know what I’m saying, be patient. You had Bernie here and then we had Steve Walsh… we had Vinny Testaverde. So those guys, those really good quarterbacks put it together, you just gotta be patient. For me right now, I’m just developing myself. Obviously, I’m not ready to play right now, so I’m going to develop myself and be the best man I can be.”

Brown is the No. 256 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 17 quarterback and the No. 24 prospect out of Georgia.

Miami spring game sells out

As new head coach Mario Cristobal begins his first season with Miami, fan support is clearly showing the excitement surrounding this version of the Hurricanes. Although the game is still four days away, tickets are already gone for the spring game as fans get their first look at Cristobal’s team.

Cristobal, a Miami alum, is taking over the Hurricanes after four seasons with Oregon — one of the highest profile coaching changes to take place after last season. Miami is coming off a 7-5 record last year under coach Manny Diaz, a disappointing finish leading to his replacement as coach. Miami won five national titles between 1983 and 2001, building a legacy of success that the past decade has not matched. The Hurricanes have only reached one major bowl game of late — the Orange Bowl in 2017 — and their last ACC championship came in 2003.

On top of the excitement surrounding Cristobal, Miami recruited the No. 2 recruiting class in the ACC according to the On3 Consensus Rankings. Alongside four-star running back TreVonte’ Citizen, Miami secured transfers from Mitchell AgudeFrank Ladson and Henry Parrish.
