After a solo home run to tie the game from sophomore Jacob Burke, the cameras caught the Miami Hurricanes as they celebrated the huge play. Trailing 4-1 as they entered the bottom of the third inning, a pair of home runs by Miami tied the game up in a hurry. Yohandy Morales hit a two-run blast to center field to bring Miami to back within one run of Canisius, and Burke hit a solo shot right after him to tie it up.

As Burke ran to the dugout, his teammates celebrated with him and gave him a fun trip down the dugout.

Miami Hurricanes celebrate tying home run

After the game-tying home run by Burke, NCAA Baseball’s social media account shared the celebration clip as a shareable GIF image. As Burke ran off the field into the dugout, his teammates put him in a rollaway bin and wheeled him down the length of the dugout to celebrate.

Miami gave up two runs in each of the first two innings to start the game, but appeared to settle in on defense as the game continued. With their defense stepping up and holding Canisius scoreless for the first inning at last, Morales and Burke brought the game back to even.

Adding to the moment, both home runs in the third inning went to the same exact spot of the field — directly behind the center field wall, nearly in the center of the “400” distance marker on the wall.

Partially starting the comeback, Miami infielder Dominic Pitelli made an incredible leaping one-handed snag in the third inning that prevented a sure hit.

Miami’s matchup with Canisius was originally set to be played on Friday, June 4, but inclement weather pushed the game back to Saturday evening. The Hurricanes currently have an overall record of 39-18 for the 2021-2022 college baseball season.

With big plays like Burke and Morales sending shots to center field and Pitelli making major catches — Miami’s road to the College World Series has remained intact so far.
