WATCH: Miami football players unveil new locker room upgrades
The Miami Hurricanes recently got a major facilities upgrade. Their new locker room, which has been called the Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Locker Room, went through a massive renovation. In the video posted to Twitter, Miami players can be heard calling the locker room the “most beautiful in CFB” and saying “about time.”
Watch here as Miami players react to their new locker room:
The new Hurricanes facilities
One of the important things to Mario Cristobal when he came to Miami was making sure that there was an investment in the program. Among other things, this means embracing facilities. In particular, upgrading them and making sure that the Hurricanes aren’t missing anything that other schools do have.
Locker rooms are going to be just one piece to making sure Miami has the best facilities possible for the team’s student-athletes. Reports have indicated that Miami is ready to invest $100 million on facilities upgrades to make this happen.
“You should see these renderings,” Mario Cristobal said of the upgrades. “We already started clearing out the areas and finalizing some things as we move forward. It is moving really fast. It puts us on a different level…It will be as good or better as anything in the country. And that is an arm’s race because every five years you are saying that again.”

Miami and the Rock
Dwayne Johnson holds a special connection with the University of Miami. It’s his school, after all. The Rock was a defensive lineman for Miami, where he was a part of their 1991 national championship team. Unfortunately, for Johnson, he had to compete with Warren Sapp for playing time. Obviously, that was a losing battle.
Following his departure from Miami, Johnson became a successful wrestler and then one of the biggest actors in Hollywood. He likes to give back to the Hurricane’s program, including several large donations to the school and athletics programs.
