The ACC Tournament has been around since 1954, annually being played to determine a champion after a long regular season. Heading into the 2022 edition, Brooklyn, NY, will be the site, marking just the 15th time the event has been played outside of the state of North Carolina.

If you are looking for someone that is excited for the tournament to be played in Brooklyn, look no further than Miami Hurricanes head coach Jim Larranaga. He gave a hilarious line when talking about the upcoming ACC Tournament, citing a couple of food adventures he will make while the Hurricanes are in town.

“I get to eat some pizza and eat some dirty water hot dogs while I’m there,” Larranaga said. “The guys are going to enjoy it. … New York is really the mecca of basketball.”

Brooklyn has been the site of the ACC Tournament twice in previous years, hosting the 2017 and 2018 editions. Miami has a losing record during the two events at the Barclays Center, going 1-2. The latter of the two competitions saw the Hurricanes come in as the No. 3 seed before dropping a quarterfinal matchup against the North Carolina Tar Heels.

If the ACC Tournament would have started on Monday, Miami would have been the No. 4 seed during the ACC Tournament. Larranaga and his team currently have an 11-5 record in the conference, getting important wins over the likes of Duke and Wake Forest (twice). Four games remain for the Hurricanes, with three of them coming on the road.

Two matchups remaining on the schedule will be against teams currently in the bottom half of the ACC standings, beginning with Pittsburgh on Tuesday. The hardest of the games will come during the final home game of the season, with the Hurricanes and Larranaga hosting a red hot Virginia Tech Hokies squad.

Looking ahead to the NCAA Tournament, Miami will need to continue to win to make the Big Dance. The only sure thing out of the ACC at the moment is the Duke Blue Devils, with the conference having an overall down year. Some timely losses from the Hurricanes and they could find themselves on the wrong side of the bubble come Selection Sunday. Keep winning and Larranaga will have his team back in the tournament for the first time since 2018.
