Miami Hurricanes pushing for elite 4-star WR Ny Carr
Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County four-star wide receiver Ny Carr is the hottest name on the recruiting trail at the moment following his decommitment from Georgia over the weekend.
The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder is an elite prospect in the 2024 cycle. Since he popped back up on the market, multiple high-profile programs that made it known that they’d like to land his pledge next. One of the new horses in the race is Miami.
The Hurricanes were never at the top for Carr before he originally committed. That is far from the case the second time around. While he’s scheduled to take a visit to Auburn this weekend, it’s Miami that’s been tabbed as a frontrunner.
“Miami is at the top right now,” Carr told CaneSport on Wednesday. “They spread the ball very well, and they’re doing amazing on offense this year. It’s kind of hard to look past it.”
On the latest edition of The Inside Scoop, CaneSport’s Izubee Charles reaffirmed the Hurricanes’ increasing chances for the No. 62 prospect and No. 12 wideout in the 2024 cycle — per the On3 Industry Ranking. Mario Cristobal and Co. are on the case as they try and add to their top-20 recruiting class.

Miami’s staff has already been out to see Carr
The Hurricanes made it no secret that they are going to make Carr a priority now that he’s back on the market. The day after he decommitted, Miami first-year tight ends coach Cody Woodiel was in the Peach State to check out the elite recruit.

“I really, really like where Miami stands with this one,” Charles said. “Miami was quick to send a coach up there Monday following his decommitment on Sunday … after speaking with his head coach up at Colquitt County he said the visit went extremely well, he said Carr backed off his commitment from Georgia because he wanted to see what else was out there … wanted to find a better fit for him on and off the field, and I think that could be Miami.”
Miami’s 2024 class features two elite receivers: Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna four-star Joshisa Trader and Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas four-star Chance Robinson. It’s on track to be the fourth cycle in a row that the Canes will welcome at least two blue-chip WRs to Coral Gables. Tack on the high-power offense that Miami has put on display this season and you’ve got a great fit for a player of Carr’s caliber.
“We see what they’ve done this year with the development of their receivers under Kevin Beard,” Charles said. “Vastly improved from last year … he’s going to make his way down to Miami relatively soon, so very exciting to see what happens there … Miami’s really pushing for him at the moment.”
