Miami quarterback Jacurri Brown plans to enter NCAA transfer portal
Miami quarterback Jacurri Brown plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Brown was a four-star prospect out of Lowndes High School in Valdosta (GA), where he was ranked the No. 308 overall player and No. 18 quarterback in the country for the 2022 recruiting cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
He was a highly-touted high school recruit regarded as one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the nation, also selected as a finalist at the Elite 11 quarterback competition in 2022. And there’s no question that his size and ability at 6-foot-4, 220 pounds will make him an intriguing prospect yet again as he reopens his recruitment. Entering the portal with three years of elegibility remaining in his college career.
Brown appeared in eight games and made two starts in his true freshman season with the Hurricanes, completing 60% of his passes for 230 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions. Also rushing for 221 on 53 attempts as he led Miami to a 1-1 record as a starter.
This past season he saw no game action until the Bad Boy Mowers PinStripe Bowl against Rutgers in Miami’s season finale. Where he started and threw for 181 yards, one touchdown, and one interception along with 57 rushing yards and two scores on the ground in a 31-24 loss in Yankee Stadium.

Brown departs from Miami following the arrival of former Washington State and Incarnate Word quarterback Cam Ward through the transfer portal this offseason. Who’s thrown for 13,874 yards and 119 touchdown in his four year career and had a strong showing in Miami’s spring game this past Saturday. Completing 17 of his 23 pass attempts for 260 yards and two touchdowns in the first half.
“I felt good, especially knowing the work that we put into the last 14 practices,” Ward said. “But you know, spring ball is over. Now we can start to come more together as a team, with the new guys coming in and come August 31st, we’ll be ready for that challenge.”
