Miami offers 2024 4-star QB DJ Lagway

Willis (Texas) four-star quarterback DJ Lagway received an offer from Miami on Sunday night. He announced the news on social media.

The 6-foot-2.5, 225 pound prospect is the No. 31 overall prospect and No. 5 quarterback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 3 player in Texas. 

On3 rates Lagway higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2024 On300, he is the No. 18 overall prospect, No. 3 quarterback and No. 2 player in Texas.

Lagway holds 27 offers. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Texas A&M has a commanding lead to land Lagway’s commitment at 65.9%. Florida has the next-best odds at 12.6%. 

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college. 

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

The Hurricanes’ 2024 recruiting class currently contains two commitments in Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard four-star cornerback Antione Jackson and Shreveport (La.) C.E. Byrd kicker Abram Murray. Miami also has a 2023 quarterback pledge from Pittsburg (Calif.) four-star Jaden Rashada, the No. 61 overall prospect in the 2023 On3 Consensus.

Lagway has an On3 NIL Valuation of $129K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
