Miami (FL) has its starting running back. According to The Athletic’s Manny Navarro, the Hurricnes plan to start former Ole Miss tailback Henry Parrish against Bethune-Cookman for the 3:30 p.m. season-opener on Saturday.

Here was Navarro’s report, which he tweeted:

“Ole Miss transfer Henry Parrish will start today’s game for Miami at RB.”

Parrish was an important part of a very potent Ole Miss rushing attack in 2021. Though he was fourth on the team in rush yards, the sophomore running back still toted the rock over 100 times last season. 105 times, to be exact, for 553 yards and three touchdowns with a 5.3 yards per carry average.

So a talented back that was part of an exceptionally deep ground game for the Rebels. Should have a major breakout year if he does get the heavy load in Miami’s backfield.

“We’ve been looking pretty good,” Parrish said. “Our backfield is like no other. I feel our backfield is the best in the country, and we have to prove that.

“With the backs we have now, we’re not just first down, second down backs. We’re multiple down backs. One will play receiver, one will play running back. Having multiple running backs on the field is more opportunities for the guys.”

Parrish says Gattis’ offense will get the ball to backs with space to work, and that “He has us in the slot and all other places we can be free and be running backs. I’m very excited for this offense.”

Parrish anticipates multiple backs playing on the field at the same time, with one in the slot.

“That’s going to happen for sure,” he said. “With the versatility we have in our room, it’s so much. You can’t keep everybody off the field, you have to play, keep going.”
