“We’ve been working hard to get the program better, to progress,” head coach Mario Cristobal said, via CaneSport. “Now our third year we’ve gone from 5 to 7 to a 10 win season. That’s only been done in the last 20 years twice (including 2017).”
The bowl game for Miami, the Citrus Bowl against Iowa State, will be played in Orlando at Camping World Stadium and kicks off Dec. 28 at 3:30 p.m. on ABC. It’s a chance for the Canes to turn around their bowl fortunes – the team is 1-11 in its last 12 bowl games and has lost five in a row.
“Everyone that doesn’t get in (the playoff) feels disappointment, but we feel the onus of just doing better,” Cristobal said. “The focus is to go win the next game. This is the end of 2024 and beginning of 2025, a chance to carry momentum into the off-season. It’s the most important game because it’s the next game.”
