Missouri guard Marcus Allen has committed to Miami out of the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. Allen entered the portal following his first season with the Tigers.

The 6-foot-7 freshman showed some real promise in his first year, though he was not a full-time starter. Allen appeared in 26 games and did not start any of them.

During that time, he averaged 2.6 points and 2.0 rebounds per game. He also contributed 0.5 assists and 0.3 steals per game. He did that on 9.2 minutes per contest.

That said, there’s some definite upside for Marcus Allen. First, he manged to shoot 3-pointers at a 40% clip. It’s worth noting he only took five shots, so it’s an extremely small sample size. But if he can improve his volume while maintaining a similar shooting average, he could be a real perimeter threat.

Second, he was also an excellent free-throw shooter. Allen finished his freshman year 30-of-34 from the line, an 88.2% clip.

Prior to enrolling at Missouri, Marcus Allen was one of the most sought-after recruits in the country. He was ranked as a four-star prospect and the No. 74 overall recruit in the country in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

Allen also checked in as the No. 25 small forward in the class. He was also the No. 12 overall player from the state of Florida, hailing from Miami (FL) Norland.

Needless to say, his commitment to Miami is a natural fit. Marcus Allen will be a solid building block for new coach Jai Lucas and company.

Miami adds TCU center from transfer portal

Marcus Allen isn’t the only addition out of the portal so far for Lucas. Former TCU center Ernest Udeh Jr. committed to Miami out of the NCAA transfer portal too. He spent two seasons with the Horned Frogs.

The 6-foot-11, 250-pounder is coming off his best year at the college level, averaging 6.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists while playing just under 27 minutes per game. He notched six double-doubles in the 30 games he appeared in and 10 games with 10-plus rebounds and ranked No. 7 in the Big 12 in defensive rebound percentage.

A native of Orlando (Fla.), Udeh signed with Kansas out of high school and played one season with the Jayhawks before transferring to play for Jamie Dixon and Co. He’s now on the third college of his career with one year of eligibility remaining.
