4-star WR Ny Carr commits to Miami: 'It feels like home'
Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County four-star wide receiver Ny Carr decommitted from Georgia last month, and a couple programs jumped to the forefront of his recruitment. He visited Auburn just a few days after he backed off his pledge to the Bulldogs. Florida and Florida State were also in the mix, but Miami had never stopped recruiting him even after he committed to Georgia.
Carr took an unofficial visit to Coral Gables over the weekend, and the Hurricanes sealed the deal. On Sunday night, Carr announced his commitment to Mario Cristobal’s program.
“Miami feels like home,” he told On3. “I felt comfortable, and the people very nice. The coaches have great energy, and they have great plan. Everyone is very genuine, and Miami is a place I can call home. It is about family and energy, and the players do their job on and off the field. I love it at Miami, and they are on the rise. I want to be part of it because Miami is building something special.”
The Hurricanes have been recruiting Carr for more than a year. He pledged to Georgia in July 2022, but Miami’s coaching staff remained in contact with him. Jacurri Brown, a sophomore QB for the ‘Canes and a fellow Georgia native, was also a key part in the relationship continuing.
“They stayed on me, and I kept talking to them. I started talking to Jacurri Brown some, and he helped me and told me a lot about Miami. Then they put D-Train [Dennis Smith] on me a couple of months ago, and the other coaches got involved and they drew me in. I started keeping up with the team, they started playing well this season and that is when it started. I have been looking at them since.”

Carr sees a bright future in Coral Gables
Despite the team’s heartbreaking loss to Georgia Tech during his official visit, Carr believes in what Cristobal has built in just a few years. Miami’s offense and their use of receivers is exciting to him as well.
“I love how Miami throws the ball around and they get receivers touches,” he added. “I fit well in the offensive scheme, and I like that fit for me. I love the city. I am ready for a change of scenery.”
Carr says he is locked in this time and shutting down his recruitment. He will take his official visit in December and then he is ready to get started as a member of the team in January.
“I like coach Cristobal a lot because he has good character,” Carr said. “Oregon was my dream school, and I started following them when Justin Herbert was there. Once Coach Cristobal started recruiting me at Miami, he has been in touch almost almost every day. He is a chill guy, but he has great energy, and I believe he is going to win championships.”
