Report: Mario Cristobal makes multiple offers to potential assistants
New Miami football coach Mario Cristobal has offered several Oregon assistants the opportunity to follow him, according to On3’s Justin Hopkins. According to the report, Oregon offensive line coach Alex Mirabal has already accepted a role in the same position at Miami.
The other assistants who have received an offer include running back coach and run game coordinator Jim Mastro, co-defensive coordinator and inside linebacker coach Ken Wilson, and strength and conditioning coordinator Aaron Field. Cristobal also extended an offer to interim head coach Bryan McClendon, who served as wide receiver coach and pass game coordinator before becoming a candidate for the head coaching position.
Other former Oregon assistants have also taken opportunities elsewhere. Offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Joe Moorhead accepted the head coaching position at Akron, while defensive coordinator and outside linebacker coach Tim DeRuyter accepted the Texas Tech defensive coordinator job and took secondary coach and pass game coordinator Marcel Yates with him.
Mario Cristobal’s Miami staff will begin to take shape over the coming weeks, with at least one former Oregon assistant already on board.
