Former TCU center James Brockermeyer has committed to Miami, via the NCAA Transfer Portal. Brockermeyer was the No. 1 interior offensive lineman to enter the transfer portal, according to On3’s 2025 Transfer Portal Player Rankings.

Brockermeyer started all 12 games for the Horned Frogs in 2024. He came to TCU after beginning his collegiate career at Alabama.

Brockermeyer redshirted for the Crimson Tide in 2021, before appearing in a pair of games in 2022, including a Sugar Bowl victory over Kansas State.

Brockermeyer saw his role increase in 2023 as he played in all 14 games on special teams, while also getting some work in at center. After helping the Crimson Tide reach the College Football Playoff, Brockermeyer transferred at the end of the 2023 season.

Brockermeyer played high school football at All Saints Episcopal (TX), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the 199 overall recruit and the No. 11 offensive lineman in the 2021 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

With one year of eligibility remaining, Brockermeyer will look to reach his full potential at Miami. The Hurricanes boasted one of the better offensive lines in the ACC this season, only allowing 23 sacks.

Anchored by James Brockermeyer at center, TCU’s offense was even better, giving up just 16 sacks this season, the 26th-least in the country. Brockermeyer will look to bring his prestige to the already-talented Miami offensive front.

He is the first offensive lineman Miami has added in the transfer portal this offseason. The Hurricanes will be more than happy to have him, as they’ve already lost four offensive linemen to the transfer portal, including offensive tackle Zion Nelson.

Miami finished this season with a 10-3 record, narrowly missing the CFP. It was a step forward for the program, which finished with a 7-6 record in the 2023 campaign. Entering head coach Mario Cristobal‘s fourth season at the helm next season, Miami will look improve once again.

The transfer portal officially opened Dec. 7 and closed on Dec. 28, though players on teams still playing in the postseason will get an additional five-day window to enter the portal after their seasons end.
