Three-star safety Isaiah Thomas of Ontario (CA) Clearwater Academy International announced his commitment to Miami Wednesday night.

The 6-foot-2, 200 pounder chose the Hurricanes over Rutgers, Florida, and Florida State.

Thomas on why he chose Miami

“The first thing was my relationship with coach Addae. He’s a great man and role model. He’s someone I have a great connection with, and we both come from the same background. Our fathers are both from Ghana, West Africa. I want to play for him. Secondly I sat down with coach Guidry, coach Addae, and Coach Cristobal. It went great, I asked about the process that went into hiring, the plans to build back up the program, and how they want to bring back the culture at the U. It all came down to if I trust them, and I do 1000%. Especially with the recruiting class we had last year and with recruiting in my class heating up. I trust coach Guidry’s smarts. He’s a defensive coordinator whose scheme I want to play in, it will make me better.”

Relationship with coaching staff + their plan for Thomas

“To be exact,’like a swiss army knife’. They want to be able to utilize me everywhere on the field. And that’s what I want as well. To be in a scheme where I can be most versatile and be all over the field.”

The Florida defensive back joins coach Cristobal and the Hurricanes’ No. 38 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by Chance Robinson, Judd Anderson, and others.
