Last night, Miami lost a commitment from Pittsburg (Calif.) four-star quarterback Jaden Rashada, who flipped to Florida. A day later, news emerged that Ocala (Fla.) Trinity Catholic three-star offensive tackle Tommy Kinsler, a Hurricanes commit, would be attending the Gators’ game against South Carolina this weekend.

That trip is no longer happening, according to Kinsler. In a message posted to social media on Friday afternoon, he reaffirmed his commitment to head coach Mario Cristobal and his staff.

“I’m a CANE!” Kinsler wrote. “I will not be attending Florida this weekend because I’m ALL IN on the CANES.”

A 6-foot-6, 333-pound prospect, Kinsler chose the Hurricanes on July 28. He was previously committed to Florida, but backed off his pledge to head coach Billy Napier on July 2.

The Florida native is the No. 704 overall prospect and No. 45 offensive tackle in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 112 player in Florida.

Kinsler is one of three offensive tackle commits in Miami’s 2023 recruiting class. The others are Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy Five-Star Plus+ prospect Francis Mauigoa and Playa Del Rey (Calif.) St. Bernard three-star Frankie Tinilau.

At the moment, the Hurricanes’ 2023 class is No. 9 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 1 in the ACC. It is led by Lakeland (Fla.) Five-Star Plus+ cornerback Cormani McClain, the No. 2 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus.

Kinsler is not the only Miami commit to recently double down on his pledge to the Hurricanes. Miami (Fla.) Miami Palmetto four-star wide receiver Robby Washington did the same this morning.

“I am a cane, nothing more to be said,” Washington posted on social media.

Kinsler has an On3 NIL Valuation of $5.8K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
