Tricia Cullop, Cameron Williams address Hanna Cavinder car theft, impact on Notre Dame game

Miami senior guard Hanna Cavinder has found herself at the center of a real-life crime story after her SUV was among three high-priced vehicles stolen from the South Florida home of her boyfriend, new Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck, while the couple slept Wednesday night.
Miami police have since recovered two of the vehicles — Cavinder’s Range Rover and Beck’s Mercedes — but a third vehicle, a Lamborghini belonging to Beck, has yet to be found.
Amid it all, Cavinder and her twin sister, Haley, still had a game to play Thursday night as No. 1 Notre Dame came into the Watsco Center and dealt the host Hurricanes a 82-42 loss. Hanna Cavinder managed just six points and a game-high five turnovers on 3-of-8 shooting in the game, while Haley added eight points but was just 4-of-15 from the floor.
After the game, Miami head coach Tricia Cullop acknowledged the “terrible” timing of the robbery, and that the entire roster was behind Hanna Cavinder, who appeared to take the incident in stride, especially while on the court Thursday night.
“I just texted her and called her today, and then I talked to her again at shootaround just saying ‘if you need anything, we’re here for you,'” Cullop said in the postgame press conference. “It was unfortunate that it happened, and the timing of it was terrible. But she did her very best to be focused, and that’s all I can ask. Any of us in that situation, it’s going to play on your emotions a little bit. I mean, that’s just a human reaction.”
Miami forward Cameron Williams added: “I think going into it, obviously that’s very unfortunate, but I don’t think it’s trickled over into the game. We were supportive of her, we were there for her and it’s unfortunate that did happen, but I think we do a good job as a team of separating what’s going on off the court and on the court. But yeah, we were there for her, and I don’t think it affected (anything).”

According to prior reporting from Slater, Anderson and his three accomplices broke into Beck’s South Florida home while he and Cavinder were asleep, entering through the garage and taking the keys from inside the home before driving off with Beck’s Mercedes and Lamborghini as well as Cavinder’s Range Rover. The Mercedes and Range Rover have since been recovered, along with a backpack belonging to Beck that included two tablets and a laptop left in one of his vehicles.
Beck transferred to Miami in early January after two seasons as Georgia‘s starting quarterback. It was reported at the time that Beck would be earning a massive NIL deal to play for the Hurricanes in the amount of $4 million.
In going to Miami, Beck also had the opportunity to join Cavinder, his longtime girlfriend who plays for the Hurricanes women’s basketball team. The two have been dating since the summer of 2024. Cavinder initially transferred there along with her twin sister, Haley, and became a big name in the NIL landscape at the time. That included deals with the likes of Under Armour and Stanley.
The Miami Hurricanes women’s basketball team is 13-13 on the season and struggling to a 3-12 record in ACC play. This season, Cavinder has played in all 26 games, starting in every one of them for the Hurricanes. She’s averaging 6.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game.
Beck, meanwhile, is rehabbing from an arm injury he suffered in the SEC Championship Game to try and get ready for Spring practice and the 2025 college football season.
