After handling business at home on Saturday against Bethune-Cookman, the Miami Hurricanes will be on the road this weekend as they travel North to take on the Temple Owls. Temple is next in line to try and stop Miami’s offense, as they are off to a hot start in 2023. The Hurricanes have scored 48 in their last two games, including a huge revenge win over Texas A&M in Week 2, 48-33.

As the Hurricanes prepare for their Saturday afternoon showdown with the Owls, starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke shared a few thoughts about the opposition’s defense, giving his initial impression of Temple.

“Yeah, they got some really good players,” said Van Dyke. “(They play) a lot of 1-high; mix things up. Bring a good amount of blitz. So, a good team, we’re going to go up there. (I’m) Really excited for the challenge and to play them.”

Van Dyke and the No. 20-ranked Miami Hurricanes have started 2023 out strong with three straight wins. Van Dyke recaptured his form from his 2021 season early on, as he has completed 76 percent of his pass attempts for 822 yards with eight touchdowns and just one interception.

Miami has to be careful not to overlook Temple on Saturday, as the Owls are their last opponent before they start ACC play. The Hurricanes conference play will start with a matchup against Georgia Tech on October 7. And Van Dyke, along with the rest of the Miami roster, would love nothing more than to take an undefeated (4-0) record into conference play.

Van Dyke shares the key to Miami’s offense running smooth

Miami is hitting on all cylinders through three games after Thursday night’s 48-7 win over Bethune-Cookman. The Hurricanes are specifically thriving on the offensive end as QB Tyler Van Dyke is loving their system under new OC Shannon Dawson.

Van Dyke commented on the smooth operation of the Miami offense while speaking with the media postgame. To him, Dawson’s fit and style have been as seamless as they’ve looked because of how the Hurricanes have trusted him early and then gone out and performed in his plays.

“I think guys just bought into it. Trusted Coach Dawson, trusted how he wants us to run his plays,” said Van Dyke. “We’ve just been doing a great job of really executing. That’s what it’s all about. Making the throws, making the catches, run blocking, pass blocking. That’s why it’s about – executing.”

In three appearances so far this season, Miami’s offense has been a well-oiled machine. They’ve averaged 44.7 points, 511 yards, and 5.3 touchdowns per game. That includes last night’s win over the Wildcats where they scored 48, put up 589 yards of offense, and score seven touchdowns.
