After struggling against both Texas A&M and Middle Tennessee, who he was benched against, Tyler Van Dyke needs to have a bounce-back performance against North Carolina. Luckily, for Van Dyke, the Tar Heels have struggled on the defensive side of the ball this season.

While speaking to the media, Tyler Van Dyke previewed what it’s going to be like to go up against the North Carolina defense.

“They’ve got good players,” Tyler Van Dyke said. “I mean, number seven [Noah Taylor] is a big-time player. six-five. I mean, he was at Virginia last year. Really good player.”

“Secondary, linebackers, d-linemen are all good. So, obviously, we’ve got a good game plan against them. We feel really comfortable these last two weeks working as an offense and, you know, we just gotta exploit their weaknesses. They’re going to give us a challenge. They’re a good team and we’re excited for Saturday.”

On the season, Tyler Van Dyke is completing 59.3% of his passes, has 809 yards passing, four touchdowns, and three interceptions. Sitting behind him on the depth chart is Jake Garcia, who head coach Mario Cristobal has a world of confidence in.

Tyler Van Dyke on fans booing him

Against Middle Tennessee, Tyler Van Dyke was benched and booed by the home fans. It was a frustrating game, but he isn’t mad at fans over it. That’s because he knows they have high expectations.

“Obviously, it was a rough day for me and the offense,” Tyler Van Dyke said. “You know, you just got to move on from it, honestly. So, you’ve got to learn from the experience and just come back here and work even harder and get better from it. And that’s what we did last week. We had a really good week last week as an offense and we’re just trying to build on that and stack these days and do it every single day and that includes Saturdays, and that’s where it matters the most.”

“But, yeah, obviously it’s a part of the game. You know, all that stuff. I mean, the fans are very passionate about Miami Hurricane’s football. I mean, you got to get the job done here. You know they’re very passionate. So, you know, it was rough, but that’s just how it goes and that’s what I signed up for.”
