Tyler Van Dyke reveals how he responds when he doesn't play up to his own standard
It was a frustrating week for Miami, as they struggled, particularly in the first half and on offense against Southern Miss. It’s possible the Hurricanes were looking ahead, but they won’t want to use that as an excuse. For quarterback Tyler Van Dyke and the Miami offense, there’s no way around it. The game was a letdown.
While speaking to the media, Tyler Van Dyke was asked about how he responds personally when his play doesn’t meet his standards.
“It’s always hard,” Tyler Van Dyke said. “I mean, there’s two options you can have. You can either forget about what happened or fix the mistakes.”

“Obviously, I’ve got to fix the mistakes. Watch the film, see what I have to do better fundamentally, and then get on the field and fix them,” Tyler Van Dyke said.
“I’m a guy who’s always going to be competitive and always try to be better than I was a week before, no matter how the performance was, and obviously I have to be better this week. It just starts in practice this week. I’ve been working hard this week.”

Tyler Van Dyke came to Miami as a four-star recruit in the Class of 2020. He became the starter in 2021 when D’Eriq King went out for the season with an injury.
Miami travels to College Station to take on Texas A&M this week.
Tyler Van Dyke is excited to play in College Station
Texas A&M’s Kyle Field is one of college football’s iconic venues and one of the toughest atmospheres for an opposing team to come into. It’s a once in a lifetime trip for most fans and opposing players. It’s also a trip that Tyler Van Dyke is incredibly excited about.
“We’re really excited as a team to get to College Station. Once in a lifetime opportunity, a great team, they have a great defense, many players–high recruits–many players. So it’s going to be a challenge and we’re going to be ready for it,” Tyler Van Dyke said.
“It’s just a good feeling going into another team’s stadium and making plays, making the crowd quiet. At the end of the day, all the work you put in and practice, you’re the ones feeling it. You’re the ones getting excited after we score a touchdown at an away stadium.”
