Tyler Van Dyke wants Miami to build off of the positives after close loss to UNC
Miami football hasn’t lived up to expectations this season. The Hurricanes are losers of three straight, including a home loss to Middle Tennessee by two touchdowns. However, the most recent defeat was somewhat encouraging, at least on the offensive end, compared to the previous two.
Against a porous North Carolina defense, Miami started to get back on track, amassing 24 points for the day. They executed much better against the Tar Heels compared to their last outing vs. a power-five team, where they only mustered nine points at Texas A&M.
At a press conference this week, ‘Canes QB Tyler Van Dyke claimed that the team performed much better than the previous weeks despite coming up just short.
“Yeah, I mean it really sucks we lost the game. I feel like we were the better team and obviously a really good team. But we gotta just execute better. That comes down to the players and we have all the faith. And all the coaches and we just got to execute better.
“But yeah I think we made a great step in the right direction in the past game. Obviously, we had to run and pass the ball at the same time. Like I said before, it has to be a good balance and we always gotta come back and move on to Virginia Tech and, you know, build on those positives and also fix the negatives.”

TVD continued, further stressing the importance of executing and improving even more on it next time out. He also credited playing faster as a source of increased urgency last weekend.
“I mean, I just think we executed better. I think tempo really helped us get going to have guys just playing ball. You know, the offense we’ve been running, like previous games, and it’s all about executing. We’ve got to make a throw, got to make the blocks got to make the catch. So, obviously scheme is important. But it’s all about executing for us.
“And I think that’s where we did a great job during our bye week. For the past game, just executing. Catching and throwing. Obviously, we got to put the pass and run game together to create that balance and really give those teams some troubles.”
A must-win vs. Virginia Tech this weekend. Tyler Van Dyke and the Hurricane offense have a great opportunity to get back on track against a weak Hokies squad.
