LOOK: South Carolina 4-star DL commit Xzavier McLeod on Miami visit
Camden (S.C.) Xzavier McLeod committed to South Carolina on Aug. 18. But with just weeks until the Early Signing Period, he took a visit to Miami for the Hurricanes’ game against Florida State.
McLeod is the No. 203 overall prospect and No. 23 defensive lineman in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 3 player in South Carolina.
McLeod was one of multiple blue-chip visitors at Hard Rock Stadium this past weekend. Others included Brockton (Mass.) Thayer Academy five-star offensive tackle Samson Okunlola, Fayetteville (Ga.) Whitewater four-star linebacker Raul Aguirre, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage four-star cornerback Damari Brown and Miami (Fla.) Miami Central four-star EDGE Rueben Bain. Aguirre is currently committed to Miami.
Right now, McLeod is the fourth-highest-rated prospect in South Carolina’s 2023 recruiting class. The Gamecocks’ group ranks No. 16 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 7 in the SEC.

Meanwhile, the Hurricanes have no commitments from defensive linemen in their 2023 class. Miami’s class is currently No. 7 in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 1 in the ACC.
Miami received McLeod’s first unofficial visit since last month. On Oct. 15, he attended Florida‘s game against LSU. According to Corey Bender of Gators Online, McLeod will return to Gainesville for an official visit.
A 6-foot-4.5, 325-pound prospect, McLeod has an On3 NIL Valuation of $16.9K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
