Four-star safety Zaquan Patterson of Hollywood (FL) Chaminade-Madonna Prep announced his commitment to Miami Saturday afternoon.

The 6-foot-1, 190 pounder chose the Hurricanes over Michigan, Florida State, and Auburn.

“To be honest, all around Miami has been great in the recruiting game, but what really did it for me was the opportunities that presented themselves. I feel like I’ll make a bigger impact on the community and the team here at Miami. Finally just being from Miami you want to see them be great. Being presented with the opportunity to make Miami great again was too good to decline.”

His relationship with the coaching staff and their plan for him played a key role in his decision as well.

“My relationship with the coaches is great. I feel like coach Cristobal knows what it takes to bring Miami back and I love the direction he’s leading the team in. Also coach Dtrain and Coach Addae have both done a great job recruiting me and building that relationship with me from day one. Finally ever since coach Guidry got there he’s been lights out. I love the energy he brings to practice and I’d love to be coached by a guy like that.”

The Sunshine State defensive back joins coach Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes’ top 20 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by four-star athlete Joshisa Trader, four-star EDGE Marquise Lightfoot, and others.
