Aidan Chiles, Jack Velling on official visit to Michigan State this weekend
Michigan State will have a couple of consequential visitors on campus this weekend as the football program is courting two major transfers for the 2024 team.
According to SpartanMag, a pair of Oregon State transfers are visiting the Spartans: quarterback Aidan Chiles and tight end Jack Velling. Chiles was rumored to visit MSU already but Velling’s trip to East Lansing is news, as both players would be strong additions for head coach Jonathan Smith, who was previously the leader at Oregon State, of course.
Velling entered the portal after just two seasons with the Beavers, breaking out in 2023 with 29 receptions, 438 yards, and eight touchdowns. His eight touchdown receptions set a new program record for the position and tied TCU‘s Jared Wiley for the most touchdown receptions by a tight end for the 2023 season.
In the short time he was allowed on the field this season in a reserve role, Chiles proved his worth by throwing for 309 yards and four touchdowns across the season to go with three more scoring plays on the ground.
