Oklahoma City (Okla.) IMG Academy five-star defensive lineman David Stone returned to Michigan State on Saturday. It marked his second visit to the Spartans this month.

Stone is the No. 9 overall prospect and No. 1 defensive lineman in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 4 player in Florida.

“It just has that home feeling,” Stone told On3’s Chad Simmons on Jan. 23. “It is like family at Michigan State. The vibe with the coaches and the players really stands out to me.”

The 6-foot-4, 270-pound defender included Michigan State among his top 10 schools. He had high praise for the Spartans when he made that decision.

“We talk probably the most,” Stone told Simmons on Dec. 23 about Michigan State. “When we were talking, I was given a rundown of everything and discussions of everything. It was like, ‘Alright, that’s fine.’ (They added), ‘And then whenever you feel like you’re ready to take the official, we want to be the last one.’ I said, ‘Alright, I can make that happen.’ So I pretty much plan on them being the last one after I get done handling business with every other school. I’ll be ready.”

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction MachineOklahoma is leading for his commitment at 75.8%.

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

Michigan State’s 2024 recruiting class contains three commitments. They are River Rouge (Mich.) four-star wide receiver Nick Marsh, Hialeah (Fla.) Westland Hialeah four-star cornerback Jamari Howard and Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Riverdale four-star cornerback Jaylen Thompson

Stone has an On3 NIL Valuation of $145K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
