Former Indiana defensive back Kobee Minor visiting Michigan State

Just before the spring window of the 2024 NCAA transfer portal closed, former Indiana Hoosiers defensive back Kobee Minor opted to enter the portal in search of a new home for the 2024 campaign. Minor, who is also a former Red Raider, has had his fair share of interest from programs across the nation. On Tuesday, he revealed that he was in the state of Michigan.

The former Hoosier took to social media to pin-drop his location, showing that he was in East Lansing, MI, home of the Michigan State Spartans, for a visit.

Kobee Minor spent one season with the Hoosiers. During that season, he played in 11 games and helped Indiana to go 3-9 on the season. He, personally, had 29 total tackles and four passes defended on the season, both of which were career highs for Minor. That performance was also good enough to be named an All-Big Ten honorable mention.

Prior to his season at Indiana, Kobee Minor spent three seasons at Texas Tech. He redshirted for the 2020 season before playing in 22 games, often as a specialist, in 2021 and 2022 for the Red Raiders.

Michigan State adding depth in their secondary

Former North Carolina cornerback Lejond Cavazos has committed to Michigan State, according to Spartan Mag’s Jim Comparoni.

Cavazos commits to the Spartans following an official visit over the weekend in East Lansing, joining Michigan State ahead of his final season of eligibility after spending time at Ohio State and North Carolina during his college career.

After redshirting in his first season with the Buckeyes, Cavazos appeared in 11 games during the 2021 season as a redshirt freshman. Racking up eight tackles and two pass breakups on the year before entering the transfer portal and transferring to UNC.

In year one with the Tar Heels Cavazos played in 11 games and started the final three games of the season for North Carolina, ending the 2022 season with a career-high 18 tackles, two pass breakups, and a tackle for loss. Posting a career-high five tackles and the first tackle for loss in his career in the ACC Championship game versus Clemson.

Cavazos appeared in just one game last season for North Carolina against Syracuse after battling injury throughout the year. As he’ll look to bounce back fully healthy and make an impact for Michigan State in the last season of his college career and the first season at the helm for head coach Jonathan Smith.
