Harlon Barnett provides update on Michigan State injuries
The Michigan State Spartans picked up their fourth one of this season on Saturday on the road against Indiana. The Spartans beat the Hoosiers 24-21, earning another victory for interim head coach Harlon Barnett. Following the victory, the Michigan State headman provided status updates to a handful of players who were injured in the contest.
“So, Nate (Nathan Carter), he’s doing he’s doing well; he’s doing better,” said Barnett. “We’re still getting him evaluated, but we didn’t want to put him back in the game because of that. (Nick) Samac, from what I know right now, It’s a lower leg injury, and we gotta see where he is. Brandon (Wright), it was another lower leg injury.”
Michigan State has one more game this season before calling it a year. In their final contest of the 2023 season, the Spartans will host the Penn State Nittany Lions on Friday, Nov. 24.
The Spartans are 4-7 on the season and, barring an unfortunate turn of events for another program, will not find themselves participating in this year’s bowl season. Still, that does not mean that Michigan State cannot play spoilers for Penn State, beating them in the final game of the season and possibly knocking them out of contention for a New Year’s 6 bowl bid.
Early point spread for Penn State vs. Michigan State
In what has been a disappointing season for both teams — albeit to very differing degrees — Penn State and Michigan State will both still have a shot to hoist a rivalry trophy at the end of the season. And for the first time, the game will be played at a neutral site: Ford Field in Detroit, instead of Spartan Stadium.
