Michigan State safety Jaden Mangham is in the process of setting up and taking visits as he looks for a new home out of the NCAA transfer portal.

According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Mangham is expected to visit Ohio State this weekend before taking a trip to Nebraska starting on Monday. He will visit Michigan the following weekend, according to 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz.

That certainly seems to indicate the talented defensive back would like to remain in the Big Ten, a league he’s already gotten familiar with and proven quite competent in.

Mangham spent two seasons with the Spartans, where he developed a reputation as a hard hitter. He started 12 games in total, racking up 73 tackles, four interceptions, three pass breakups and one fumble recovery.

While Mangham played some as a freshman, he didn’t have nearly the impact he would as a sophomore.

During the 2023 campaign, Mangham logged 53 tackles, a tackle for a loss, four interceptions, a fumble recovery and seven passes defended. He was disruptive and an impact player all the way around.

That kind of play will make him a coveted piece in the NCAA transfer portal.

Prior to enrolling at Michigan State, Jaden Mangham was a four-star prospect and the No. 301 overall recruit in the nation in the 2022 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

He also checked in as the No. 8 athlete in the class and the No. 8 overall player from the state of Michigan, hailing from Franklin (MI) Wylie E. Groves.

Jaren Mangham commits to Minnesota

Jaden Mangham is not the only one looking to transfer away from Michigan State this offseason. His brother, Jaren Mangham, has also utilized the NCAA transfer portal.

The former Michigan State running back has a new home for the 2024 season. According to On3’s Spartans’ fan site contributor SpartanMag Jim Comaroni, the former Spartan will remain in the Big Ten after committing to playing for the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

“Former Michigan State running back Jaren Mangham has announced his commitment to transfer to the University of Minnesota. He will be on scholarship with the Gophers,” said Comaroni.

Mangham played his high school football at Cass technical high school in Detroit, MI. He would work his way up to becoming a three star running back recruit with a grade of 88.5 in the 2019 recruiting class. As a part of the 2019 cycle he was the No. 470 overall recruit, No. 39 running back, and ranked No. 11 and recruits coming out of the state of Michigan, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
