Michigan State announces plans for customizable NIL jersey deal
The Michigan State football program announced their future NIL partnership for all of their players, involving customizable team jerseys for fans. Starting this year, Spartan fans can purchase jerseys for their favorite players on the team, and the athletes will receive compensation for the jersey sales.
Michigan State’s new NIL jersey deal
“Beginning this fall, Spartan fans will have the opportunity to step up their jersey game! Thanks to a collaboration with Fanatics and OneTeam, fans will be able to purchase customized Nike jerseys of their favorite Spartan football players, and athletes will be compensated for each sale,” read the official statement on Michigan State’s team site.
Any Michigan State football player will have the option to opt into the group licensing program from the Brandr Group, which is an affiliate of OneTeam Partners. If the players opt into the NIL deal, their jersey will be available online via the Michigan State Official Team Shop and they will receive compensation for the sales of their jersey.
OneTeam Partners has partnered with Fanatics to provide college football players the opportunity to participate in an officially licensed jersey program. Fanatics will offer their already existing customizable Nike football jerseys to the partnership, while The Brandr Group and OneTeam Partners will administer the group rights of college athletes in the program. As part of their official partnership, Fanatics and OneTeam Partners do plan to expand the program to include more men’s and women’s sports. Starting this fall however, the NIL partnership will only be available to football initially.

Coleman joins Michigan State after enjoying three seasons and Georgia Tech’s defensive line and outside linebackers coach from 2019-2021. He played his collegiate football for the Yellow Jackets from 1989-1991 where he was a two-time first-team All-American.
“Coach Marco Coleman brings years of college and NFL experience to East Lansing,” Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker. “We’re extremely excited for him to join our family and he is going to help shape future champions.”
Coleman left Georgia Tech following his junior season and was selected No. 12 overall by the Miami Dolphins in the 1992 NFL Draft. He went on to win the 1992 Rookie of the Year and earned a spot in the 2000 Pro Bowl. Coleman, who played 14 seasons in the NFL from 1992-2005, joined the Yellow Jackets’ coaching staff after spending the 2018 season as an assistant defensive line coach for the then-Oakland Raiders.
